Hello! My name is Kristian Reyes, and I am running to represent Area 1 for the Dublin Unified School District Board of Trustees. I have a long track record of serving the city in several volunteer roles and feel that this experience, coupled with close to thirty years in business management roles makes me uniquely qualified to serve in this role. My goal is to ensure that all students have access to a high-quality, well-rounded education, which will prepare them for life after high school as lifelong learners and contributing members of society.

While making sure to listen to and consider opinions from all of the district's stakeholders, I intend to make decisions using a pragmatic approach and prioritize the district's long term goals. I am excited for the opportunity to be a voice in the community for students, teachers, and parents for a district whose primary goal is to provide a great education.

Our school district, like so many districts both in the Tri-Valley as well as across California, faces budget concerns due to a slowdown in state tax revenues as well as exhaustion of funds from various state and federal COVID-19 relief efforts. Recruiting, and more importantly, retaining the best teachers has to remain a priority for the district - and staying competitive with nearby districts from a compensation standpoint is critical. I believe a collaborative process is crucial to make decisions on what should be prioritized, should the district have to cut expenditures further to balance the budget.

I will be the candidate that listens to and addresses ALL of DUSD's stakeholder groups when issues and/or disagreements arise, and use my decades of managerial experience to help come up with the answers that address concerns - keeping the students first in mind.
